Frequently Asked Questions

The Books

You can start reading the first book of any series! While the Amiverse is interconnected, each series can stand on its own without reading any other series or novel to understand what is going on. Where you begin your journey is entirely up to you! If you're a stickler for starting at the very beginning of the timeline, start with the Roadside Paradise Series by K.J. Amidon.

To see a complete timeline of the Amiverse, be sure you check out the Timeline page on this website.

The only order that needs to be followed in the Amiverse is the order of books within each series. Please read each series in chronological order (example: Dimension Guardian Book 1, Book 2, Book 3...). But other than that, the different stories can be read in any order you please.

To see a complete timeline of the Amiverse, be sure you check out the Timeline page on this website.

The Significant by Kyra Anderson. The Significant is a sapphic dystopian sci-fi novel that is a standalone novel with two "prequel" stories that include extra scenes that were cut from the main novel. It is available to purchase on e-books, paperback, hardback, and audiobook (narrated by the author herself).

No. The novels within the Amiverse are appropriate for new adult and older audiences. The novels written under the pen name K.J. Amidon are better suited for slightly younger readers (recommended 16+), but all novels written under Kyra Anderson are rated 18+ for language, violence, sexual situations, and other elements not suitable for younger audiences.

Not at all! The Lore Archive is merely a collection of fun extras that help deepen the understanding of the Amiverse as a whole, but all information needed to understand the plots and characters of the novels can be found within the pages of each novel--no extra research or homework required!

Project: Preservation is the next section of the Amiverse timeline to be explored, but it is also part of a much larger project that is being built in tandem. You will likely get some of the novels of the Project: Preservation timeframe before the larger project is built enough to share. Please be patient! Books take a long time to create.

If you are interested in more frequent updates about the scope and progress of Project: Preservation, follow the social media accounts and sign up for the Amiverse Newsletter.

No AI is used in writing the novels of the Amiverse. In fact, many of the novels were published before AI was released to the public as the author took a 4 year hiatus starting in 2022.

At the moment, the plan is to start publishing again in 2027. This will likely begin with the continuation of the Roadside Paradise Series by K.J. Amidon. The next two projects under the pen name Kyra Anderson ("Avalon" and "Domina") are in the development and drafting process. There is currently no projected timeframe for when those projects will be published. You can follow the progress of those projects on Kyra Anderson's website as well as her social media accounts. More updates will be announced through the Amiverse Newsletter.

The Amiverse Literary Universe

The Amiverse is the interconnected literary universe of the novels written by K.J. Amidon & Kyra Anderson. All novels can be read in whatever order readers please without seeking supplemental information, but they are in the interconnected universe, and occasionally characters and events may appear across multiple series. This website is a tool to connect these novels and events for those who enjoy the Amiverse and want to understand how they are connected. All information on this website is supplemental and optional to exploring the novels.

The Amiverse follows a framework that is set in place by the Dragon Regime. The core framework of the Amiverse reality is based on The Balance which is the magic maintained by souls within the thousands of worlds within the universe. The Dragon Regime is built under The Overseer, who is the strongest being in the Amiverse. The Overseer is responsible for maintaining The Balance and can shift the magic of the souls around the universe when things go out of alignment. Within the timeline of the Amiverse, the major universal event known as The Second Shift is the "apocalypse" of the Amiverse, and was triggered by events in The Coalition Trilogy & Inside. The eventual repercussions of how the Overseer handled the Second Shift can be explored in the Dimension Guardian Series.

The lore of these events is too extensive to be covered in this section. Please visit the Lore Archive pages on the Dragon Regime, The Balance, The Overseer, and the Second Shift for more detailed information.

Magic is ever-present in the Amiverse (even in the novels where no magic is directly referenced). It is directly tied to souls and falls into many classifications based on the soul and the type of life holding the soul. Magic an be manipulated by all who hold souls. For humans, training magic must start very young to keep the muscle from atrophy. The magic "muscle" is more or less the manupulation of an individual's aura, which can be used precisely like fingers grabbing and moving something, or in more broad sweeping motions like a wave as the muscle of the aura is not a set structure but can be manipulated into shapes and strengths with training. As magical power grows, it can become dangerous if not properly contained, which is where the concept of power limiters come into play.

The lore of Amiverse magic can be explored in more depth in the Lore Archive.

The Balance and The Overseer. The Balance is the overall strength of magical reality within the Amiverse based on the souls of the universe and the strength of those souls in their connection to the Balance. This is all maintained by the Overseer. The Overseer is the most powerful mortal being in the Amiverse and is able to shift the threads of reality in an attempt to keep the Balance from collapsing.

The lore of The Balance and The Overseer can be explored in more depth in the Lore Archive.

Several characters do appear across multiple series...if you know where to look. There is only one section of the Amiverse where the cameos of other characters are overt--The Coalition & Inside. However, it is also possible to spot the Overseer in many of the novels, even if they have different names, appearances, or even genders. The appearance of the Overseer is a bit harder to spot in some of the novels. There are also some cameos from the Kage Family in a few novels through the Amiverse (and they may also be in disguise and working under different names). However, spotting these characters when they are not overtly named is just an easter egg within the novels. It is not necessary for you to understand that those characters are hiding within the story to understand or enjoy the novels.

Absolutely. These events are shown on the interactive timeline on this website. The main "Amiverse-changing" events include The Second American Revolution, The Second Shift, The Second Shift Nullvergence, the birth of Juki Kage, and the Calamities. All of these events have more information within the Lore Archive. The only one explored on page (so far) is the Second American Revolution. Other events are currently just mentions in other stories, but eventually these other events will be explored in further detail in their own novels.

...eventually. There is a saga that will span most of those years and explore untold expanses of the Amiverse that is called Trade Masters and it explores everything to do with the Kage Family. But the saga is very expansive and detailed and it will take a very long time to properly polish to release to the public. Because it will take so long to release the Trade Masters Saga to readers, most of the information on the Kage Family and that million-years gap can be explored through the Lore Archive.

If you would like to be introduced to the Kage Family through the novels rather than the archive, you can meet them in the Dimension Guardian Series by K.J. Amidon.

Yes. The author has 10+ books written outside of the Amiverse. These books are written under completely different pen names and are not promoted. You are welcome to search the depths of Amazon for them, but you will not find any information on those extra titles on any website associated with the Amiverse.

(the addition of these other titles brings the author's full novel catalogue to over 40 books)

The Author(s)

The Amiverse holds the titles of novels written under the names K.J. Amidon and Kyra Anderson. Both pen names have a decent catalogue of novels across genres. No other authors write (officially) within the Amiverse.

No. Both pen names are the same author (K.J.). Because the tone of novels varies so much, the content of the novel determines which pen name is put on the cover, but all novels under both pen names were written by the same person.

Once the author began writing Inside it was clear that the audience for her first work (Dimension Guardian) would not cross into the audience for Inside. Because of the wild deviation in genre and tone, K.J. created a second pen name to host the darker stories that explore heavier themes in order to avoid shocking any readers going through the author's catalogue and coming across a genre they were not interested in reading.

No, there is only one newsletter and it will cover the updates for both pen names in different sections. If you are interested in the Amiverse Newsletter you will receive updates on both pen names, the overall progress within the Amiverse, and extras for all stories that take place within this literary universe.

You also will not receive extensive emails. The author is a self-proclaimed hermit and lurker and will only send out newsletters when there is substantial information to share with readers and might only happen once a quarter.

The author is (almost) a one-woman show. She does hire editors to help polish the novels and once hired a different narrator for the Dimension Guardian Series, but there is not an extensive team working on the universe. This all came from one over-active imagination from a stubborn author who insists on learning how to do as much of the work herself as possible (including this website).

There are ways to reach out to the author if you are interested. There is a contact form on this website (link can be found in the footer) and you are welcome to message the author on social media. It may take a few business days for a response, but you are welcome to reach out via this website or social media.
